History
Established in 1996 as the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER).
Initially affiliated with Utkal University, later with Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) from 2002 to 2007.
In 2007, it was declared a Deemed to be University by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.
ITER became a constituent institute of SOA in the same year.
Granted Category-I Graded Autonomy by UGC in 2022.
The university’s constituent units are spread across 450 acres within Bhubaneswar.
